Tom Jones

Tom Jones is well known Nationally in Cowboy Mounted Shooting, Old West Re-enacting, and Gunfighting circles. Tom a.k.a. "Dakota Tom Jones" brought Cowboy Mounted Shooting to South Dakota and helped co found surrounding state organizations. He co-founded the Minnesota Mounted Shooters in 2000 and remains active in the club.

We offer the most comprehensive living history General Liability and Special Risk Insurance offered anywhere in the world today. All members are covered by two insurance programs:

INSURANCE PLAN A

Comprehensive Reenactors Spectator Liability Insurance

This policy (outside the ropes) provides a Spectator and Comprehensive General Liability insurance coverage with a general aggregate. NO DEDUCTIBLE.

General Liability

This coverage protects your business from claims arising from alleged bodily injury, personal injury or property damage. Our policy covers the use of wagons, horses and watercraft in your performances. The policy has $2,000,000 General Liability coverage, with a $3,000,000 General Aggregate and zero deductible.

This coverage is with one of the largest Commercial General Liability insurance companies in the world. Our coverage is worldwide as long as U.S. residency is maintained. They have offices in every state and are rated by A.M.Best as an A+ insurance company.

Special Risk and Accident Related Personal Medical Expenses Insurance for the Re-enactor

This (inside the ropes) insurance provides $5,000.00 accidental death and $5,000.00 dismemberment. It also provides $2,500.00 excess Accident Personal Medical Expense, including loss of tooth or eyesight as long as you are injured while reenacting or participating a living history function. There is a $250,000.00 aggregate and $100 deductible.


Note: This policy acts as a secondary Personal Medical Expense coverage to a primary policy. If there is no primary policy in effect (you do not have medical insurance), this policy becomes primary. If your primary covers 80-20, has limits or has a large deductible, this policy can cover that which is not covered by the primary policy.

This policy is with one of the largest holdings insurance companies in the world. Our Special Risk policy will cover you anywhere in the world if your US residency is maintained and you notify us before traveling outside of the U.S.A.

Coverage is in effect from the time you leave your residence for a Living History activity to the time you return. The A.M.Best rating is A++.

Special Risk/Personal Injury Policy

This is inside the ropes participants' insurance. This policy provides $5,000.00 accidental death or dismemberment and $2,500.00 personal medical expense including some dental and loss of sight. This has a $250,000.00 total aggregate accumulative with a $100.00 deductible.

All Old West Living History Foundation members are covered under this policy with American International Group [AIG]. The Spectator and General Liability Insurance is available through one of the largest Commercial General Liability Coverage companies in the world. The Special Risk policy is covered by AIG - American International Group one of the oldest with one of the largest holding companies in the world. Each name submitted for membership must be accompanied by a social security number. Upon acceptance, your policy number will be included on your Old West Living History Foundation membership card and you will receive an ACORD-CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE.
 

Our season is an annual season. The 2003 season began January 1, 2003 and will continue through January 1, 2004. Our membership insurance programs will cover you anytime you are participating in living history, anywhere in the United States, Canada, or any U.S. Domain, during our season. Our Special Risk policy will cover you anywhere in the world if your US residency is maintained and you notify us before traveling outside of the U.S.A.

Family membership

We offer Family Membership options with reduced membership for all those who live in the same household, no matter the relationship. We also encourage you to sign up junior members. This will cover minors if they are injured while participating in Living History activities.

The Birth of a Cowboy!

I was born Jefferson Alan, in the Minnesota Territory, in 1845. My father, Joshua, and older brothers Joseph, and James, was hard workin' farmers. My mother Sadie,and little sister Sophie, took good care of our cabin, and fed us all well. Farmin' was as hard a life as any man or woman could have chosen, or be born into. But it was a good life for our family.
