Cowboy Reenactors F.A.Q's

Question: How can I become a re-enactor? Where can I acquire the right clothes and rigging?

Answer: To become the re-enactor that is looked at with high regards, you need to study history. Find a character that you want to portray, and then learn to tell that person's stories. Study the clothing. It's not hard to find the right clothes, and the cost of the clothing isn't that bad. The highest expense items will be boots, and the weapons of your choosing. You can find a relatively cheap hat, and shape it during a rain storm to the look you need. All your leather gear can be purchased, but with some ingenuity, you can make all of it.

Question: Do I need to carry liability insurance?
Answer: Yes. One of the organizations that we promote is AFOWR, American Federation of Old West Re-enactors. Their web site is www.afowr.com . You can become an AFOWR member, and gain the benefits of a large organization that will help you as an old west re-enactor. And with mentors like you'll find within AFOWR, you can hone your skills by learning and listening to those that have been in your shoes. And AFOWR carries the necessary liability insurance policy that will cover you.

Question: Can I do this on my own?
Answer: The old saying is there is power in numbers. And power comes from learning through experience. The best place to gain that experience is to join one of the many re-enactors clubs throughout the country. There are living history groups, old west re-enactor groups, gun slingin' groups, and any other type of group that you can think of. Most of them will be non-profit organizations, but the donation of your time to learn and gain the experience you need will be invaluable.

Question: Will I have to travel when I work for WildWestReenactors.com?
Answer: You can specify in your listing whether you are available to travel any length of distance. Every state in the Union will have re-enactor jobs in the future. That is what WildWerstReenactors.com is promoting. And we need you to become a member, in your corner of the country, because there will be work there that we will need you to do. And of course, if you would like to travel, specify that in your listing.
